AI Visibility Check, the short, honest version

This is the privacy policy for the AI Visibility Check (GEO Snapshot) Chrome extension by Cut the Waffle.

Last updated: 19 October 2026

The whole thing in one line: the extension reads the page you're looking at, works it out inside your browser, shows you a scorecard, and sends nothing anywhere. No accounts, no tracking, no data leaves your machine.

What the extension does

When you click the extension icon, it looks at the page you're currently on and grades it for AI and search visibility. Things like your title tag, structured data, heading structure, answer passages, author signals, and whether your robots.txt lets AI crawlers in.

It only runs when you click it, and it only ever looks at the tab you're actively viewing.

What data it reads

  • The content and HTML of the page in the active tab: title, meta tags, headings, text, links, images and any structured data.
  • A few files from that same website, fetched in the background: /robots.txt, /sitemap.xml and /llms.txt.
  • The page's own raw HTML, re-fetched from its URL, so it can check whether your content is visible without JavaScript.

All of these come from the same website you're already on. It reads them to calculate your scores, and only the score summary described below is kept.

What it saves on your device

From version 1.3, the extension remembers the score and the list of flagged checks for each page you scan, so next time it can show what improved (for example "+9 since 3 Oct, 2 fixed"). This is kept in the extension's own local storage in your browser, for up to 100 pages and 10 scans each. It never leaves your device and nobody else, including us, can see it. You can delete it any time with Clear saved scores in the extension's "i" panel, or by removing the extension.

When you click PDF report, the scan is handed to a report page inside the extension, which removes it from storage as soon as the report opens. The PDF is created by your browser's own print dialog and saved wherever you choose.

What it does NOT do

  • No data is sent anywhere. There is no server, no backend, no API. All analysis happens locally in your browser.
  • Nothing leaves your device. The only thing saved is a small score history in your own browser (see below). It is never uploaded, synced or shared.
  • No tracking or analytics. We don't record which sites you visit, we don't use cookies, and we don't build any profile of you.
  • No personal information is collected. The extension doesn't ask for your name, email, or anything else to work.
  • Nothing is sold or shared. There's no data to sell.

Permissions, and why

Chrome asks the extension to declare what it can touch. It uses the minimum needed:

  • activeTab: so it can look at the page you're on when you click the icon, and nothing else.
  • scripting: so it can run the checks against that page inside your browser.

It deliberately does not request broad access to "all your websites" or your browsing history.

The export file

If you use the "Export results for your AI" button, the extension builds a text file on your device and downloads it through your browser. That file is created locally and is never uploaded anywhere. What you then do with it, for example pasting it into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, is your call and covered by that tool's own privacy terms.

Links out

The scorecard includes links to cutthewaffle.nz. If you click one, you'll visit our website in the normal way, under our standard website privacy policy. Clicking is entirely up to you.

Changes to this policy

If the extension ever changes what it does with data, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date above will change. If we ever add anything that collects data, we'll ask you first.
